Seg\u00fan inform\u00f3 el Servicio Geol\u00f3gico de Estados Unidos (USGS), el movimiento se produjo a las 21:26 horas y tuvo una profundidad de 10 kil\u00f3metros, con epicentro ubicado a unos 304 kil\u00f3metros al sureste de Puerto Williams, en la regi\u00f3n de Magallanes y de la Ant\u00e1rtica chilena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobiochile.cl\/noticias\/nacional\/region-de-magallanes\/2026\/07\/06\/sismo-magnitud-5-9-se-registra-en-el-paso-drake.shtml\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>De acuerdo con el Servicio Nacional de Prevenci\u00f3n y Respuesta ante Desastres (Senapred), el Servicio Hidrogr\u00e1fico y Oceanogr\u00e1fico de la Armada (SHOA) inform\u00f3 que las caracter\u00edsticas del sismo no re\u00fanen las condiciones necesarias para generar un tsunami en las costas de Chile. Hasta el momento, tampoco se reportaron da\u00f1os materiales ni personas afectadas a ra\u00edz del movimiento, tanto en territorio argentino como chileno.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobiochile.cl\/noticias\/nacional\/region-de-magallanes\/2026\/07\/06\/sismo-magnitud-5-9-se-registra-en-el-paso-drake.shtml\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Pasaje Drake, la masa de agua que separa el extremo sur de Am\u00e9rica del continente ant\u00e1rtico, es una zona de intensa actividad s\u00edsmica, donde se registran con frecuencia movimientos tel\u00faricos de distinta magnitud debido a su ubicaci\u00f3n dentro de una de las regiones tect\u00f3nicamente m\u00e1s activas del planeta. Pese a la magnitud considerable del sismo registrado este lunes, su lejan\u00eda respecto de centros poblados \u2014las localidades m\u00e1s cercanas, Ushuaia y Puerto Williams, se encuentran a varios cientos de kil\u00f3metros de distancia\u2014 evit\u00f3 que el movimiento tuviera consecuencias directas sobre la poblaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las autoridades de la regi\u00f3n contin\u00faan monitoreando la actividad s\u00edsmica en la zona, en el marco del seguimiento permanente que mantienen sobre esta \u00e1rea del extremo sur del continente, hist\u00f3ricamente propensa a este tipo de
